Zambian Emeralds Take Centre Stage at Jaipur’s 13th Rough Gemstones Sourcing Show

The 13th India Rough Gemstones Sourcing Show (IRGSS) 2026, being held from August 24 to September 11, is strengthening the connection between Zambia’s emerald mines and India’s coloured gemstone manufacturing sector. Organised by the GJEPC with the support of Jaipur Customs, the show brings rough emeralds from Kagem Mining Ltd., Zambia, directly to more than 60 Indian gemstone manufacturers.

The initiative was formally inaugurated by Shri R.K. Chandan, Commissioner of Customs, Jaipur, in the presence of Shri Jeevan Ram Dhaka, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, ACC Jaipur, along with GJEPC representatives and industry leaders.

Launched in Jaipur in 2020, IRGSS was conceived to give Indian manufacturers direct access to rough gemstones without the need to travel to producing countries. The model creates a more efficient link between global miners and India’s extensive manufacturing base.

Jaipur, widely recognised as a major global centre for coloured gemstone processing and particularly renowned for emeralds, provides a natural hub for this sourcing initiative. The 2026 edition further reinforces the city's role in connecting international rough supply with India's skilled gemstone manufacturing
